About Read Stacks
Read Stacks is built for readers who want the ideas without the 300-page wait.
The honest reading problem
Most non-fiction readers buy 5-15 books per year and finish maybe 2-3 of them. The ideas in those books are valuable, but the books are designed for long reading sessions that most people don't have anymore. The gap: the ideas matter, the page-count doesn't.
Read Stacks distills non-fiction into chapter-by-chapter summaries, curated reading paths, and concrete application playbooks. You get the ideas, the evidence, and the "do this on Monday" steps — without the 300-page commitment.
Three layers
- Chapter summaries: the key insight, the evidence behind it, and the one question to ask yourself. 4-7 minutes per chapter.
- Curated stacks: themed reading paths of 5-9 books in the right order, with stack-level synthesis connecting the ideas.
- Application playbooks: concrete "do this on Monday" steps for each book, with chapter references backing every recommendation.
Who built this
Read Stacks is built and operated by Paulo de Vries, a solo founder running a portfolio of content sites. The project grew out of @read_bookpop — a TikTok channel that distills non-fiction books into short, applicable videos. The TikTok community kept asking for "the full version" — Read Stacks is that.
Paulo reads 50+ non-fiction books per year, runs builds at the intersection of content + software, and is based in Amsterdam.
Editorial approach
Every chapter summary includes:
- The chapter's central idea, in one sentence
- The evidence the author cites (research, anecdote, framework)
- Where it fits in the book's overall argument
- One application question to ask yourself
Summaries are never AI-generated filler. They're curated by hand, fact-checked against the source, and link back to the original book.
Affiliate disclosure
Read Stacks links to books via Bookshop.org affiliate links and Amazon Associates where applicable. As an affiliate, we earn a small commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. This funds the project without paywalling the first chapter of every book.
Free vs Pro
The first chapter of every book is free, and the weekly stack email is free. Pro membership (€4.99/mo) unlocks the full library + all application playbooks + ad-free reading. See pricing for the full tier breakdown.
